Dukan Diet Restart -- Cruise Week 18 Sunday

Total lost since 3/2011: 19.75lb (8.98kg, 1.41st)
Milestone: lowest weight in 2012, matching lowest weight on Dukan in 2011

Water intake: 64oz & 75oz lemonade (139 = 4.11l) & 1 mug of herbal tea

Anything lower than this weight is a new low since 2004 or earlier!  I will be doing PP Monday-Wednesday, so I'm hoping for good numbers this week.  However, the tomato meat sauce has sodium, so I have a feeling that tomorrow's number isn't going to be that great, so I'll have to wait for joy until Tuesday or Wednesday.

BTW, I know that lamb is not allowed, but I only eat ground lamb, and I always drain it after cooking, so the fat content is significantly lowered.

P90X Spring 2012: Week 1 Chest & Back and ARX

I did ARX this morning, I did 291 reps total.  Then this evening I did Chest & Back.  I did 87 pushups (plus an additional 41 girly ones), and 52 chair-assisted pullups.  Good results, but I really had to force myself to finish the second half.

A month later, and I'm once again at 138.5.  My lowest on Dukan was only .25 lower last year.  I am smaller at this weight than I was in March, that was probably a bit of dehydration. I'm also starting a new round of abbreviated P90X today.  I'll be doing the first three of the 7 workouts on weekends, and walking or doing more of the workouts depending on the weather during the week, as well as doing ARX 3x a week.  I'm still afraid the scale will move up due to muscle gain, but I would be shrinking at the same time, so measurements and clothing fit will be very important here!

I was trying on my summer capris & shorts, and I am fitting into the smallest ones I have (you know, the ones I bought last year that I was sure I was going to fit into very soon!) They'll be more comfortable soon, but I could wear them outside and not be embarrassed.  I also found a new pair of "skinny pants" to measure my size.  They're actually a pair of shorts that I wore in the 1980's and 90's.  Not that I would wear them out, they're old-fashioned high-waisted red denim (no stretch) shorts, but at least I would know I'm back to the same size I was.  I was able to button the waist and zip them with difficulty, so there was a muffin-top, but that's better than a few days ago!

Well, this morning I was feeling a little dehydrated, so it's good it's a PV day today.  I ran out of time this morning, so I didn't have my fiber, but the salad has plenty of roughage.  I had an enormous amount of water at work before lunch, I drank 96oz (2.84l) of ice water.  After I ate lunch, I was stuffed -- well, a little bloated actually, and I didn't like what I was seeing in the mirror.  I'm sort of scared what the scale is going to show tomorrow...

Yay!  I will definitely call this a WHOOSH!  It took me one month to get back down to this weight, but with the extra hydration, it may also be a truer loss than the numbers I was posting in March. I also cut my food intake. I was eating many hundreds of calories in almonds, sometimes probably 600!  This morning I was regretting the goat yogurt I had last night at 9:30.  However, I counted my calories for yesterday, and they added up to about 1200, so I may have to have that second serving just so I don't undereat. 

I'm going to do another PP day today, and maybe even three or four.  I am feeling motivated, and I have lots of different protein foods in my fridge right now.  I also did not attend the company function this evening.  They usually have well-catered events, and they do have Dukan-friendly choices, but mistakes do happen and I did my walk instead, about 50 blocks.

All I can hold on to is that the measuring tape shows I am shrinking.  I sure don't understand what is going on!  Also, all this water, there's no way I'd be drinking this much if I wasn't doing Dukan.  I just want to make sure my digestive issues are not due to dehydration...  I just noticed that I had dairy on Thursday and then a little bit on Saturday, so that may be contributing to my digestive woes.  I'll be DF for three days by tomorrow, maybe things will improve at that point.

I tried to keep my hydration up.  No almonds today (I am out anyway).  I have been taking Kleritea for the last two days to help me unclog the plumbing, finally getting some results today!  I think with almonds, I may be able to do 1oz, but not the multiple ounces I've been doing.  I seemed to do OK the other day when I only had one serving.  I ate double the amount of veggies that I usually would.

ETA: I did have some roasted red pepper, I forgot!  So it was a mild PV day after all.

A PV day.  Maybe I'll do a PP day tomorrow.  The scale may not be moving much, but I seem to be a bit smaller, as my underbust is now 29-29.5 (was 30 just a few weeks ago)!  I'm still a little clogged up, so hopefully I can improve that this weekend.  I also looked back at when I was under 140 in March, and I noticed that I was drinking about 1liter less water than I've been drinking now, so hmmm.  I'll have to see what the final number is when I'm more hydrated.

Last time I blew up, I had recorded what herbal tea I drank (Tahitian Vanilla Hazelnut & Stomach Ease).  I definitely didn't have Stomach Ease, and I don't think I had the Tahitian either, so that's not it. I'm going to behave today, hopefully some of this air/whatever will go away.  Here is something positive -- my highs are getting lower:

I have been taking the 4HB supplements (irregularly, but still), which are: Policosanol at bedtime, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Garlic (which I was out of for a while so I doubt that's it), and decaffeinated Green Tea Extract 3x a day.  I'm supposed to take it before meals, but I've forgotten, and I've been doing it 1x a day with lunch.   I decided to skip the ALA for a bit, to see if that helps.  At lunch, I took the Garlic and the Green Tea Extract (GG), and I felt fine later in the afternoon, so far skipping the ALA was the right thing to do.

Sodium from the tomato sauce?  Also my system is not moving well.  I decided to do a PP day today.  I don't want to do a PP on Fridays, as I want to catch up on my hydration before the weekend's high tea/low water combo.

It's a PV day today.  I'm feeling really good!  I had a PV dinner w/my Mom.  I drank lots of water yesterday, got a little more sleep, was on track today.  I was able to catch an earlier train, and got off the subway one stop early and walked quickly 10min to work.  At lunch I walked/ran an errand, then I walked after work for 60+min.  When I get into the fitness zone I start doing really well. I just have to stay focused!  I think I ate less calories than I've been eating (which may be a good thing) because I was a little hungry around 10am.

What a relief!  Still some work to do, though.  The week was pretty horrible! I'm still .25 away from my low last week.  I'm no longer puffy though.  The tomato sauce I used has no added sugar, but of course it has sodium.  I was puffy when I woke up for a few moments after  I went to sleep, so I took a simethicone pill.

A PP day.  I ate way less than I usually would at work, as I didn't bring my almonds and two stores that I went to didn't have my yogurt.  I drank a lot of water instead!  After work, I walked 46 blocks, and tried another two stores to find my yogurt, finally at the fourth one I got two tubs!  I asked for a spoon, and as soon as I got outside I ripped it open and ate 4-5 spoonfuls.  Delicious!  I will have to keep up liquids tomorrow.

Water intake: 103oz (3.04l) & 13oz lemonade & 2 mugs of herbal tea -- I had an extra mug of black tea (I usually have 2 a day) because I was falling asleep at my desk, so I have to up the water today and tomorrow!

Sigh.  A PV day.  I'm slowly feeling less puffy today.  I did notice while looking back at what I was eating on days that were frustrating, cheese seems to be prominent.  It's hard to know how much sodium is in them, so I'm going to have to cut back/eliminate cheese for now.  I am also going to skip the almonds tomorrow, I think they cause puffiness sometimes.  I am also going to get more serious about eliminating added sugars.  I will also take another look at the book, to see what else I can have on PP days.

I took a simethicone pill, and that helped a little with the extra air.

This afternoon I blew up again.  I am so tired of feeling bloated and having my clothes straining.  Why is this happening??? I felt fantastic this weekend, and now ew! Decided to order out, so I got the steak fajita salad, nothing too bad in it I hope!

Usually I list the weekly average to show how much better the week was compared to the previous week, but since that number doesn't look good, I'll just say I'm down 3.25lb from my high on Monday!  I'm still hoping to get below 140 this week, and there are no parties or traveling in the near future, so... I spent about 4 hrs walking this afternoon,  I walked across Central Park, wandered around the East Side, then walked back to the West Side and took the subway home.  I'll be working OT tomorrow, so I will get my hydration back on track.

Well, finally!  A lot of that was air, plus my system is clearing out!  It gets so sluggish after having dairy.  I will continue to drink lots of liquids today to avoid dehydration.  I still feel there's a little excess air or something, we'll see how things look tomorrow morning.

WHY SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOU!

We've all noticed on Dukan how much better we feel, and some of us have also gotten improvements in our bloodwork.  On Sunday, 60 Minutes had a segment about sugar and it goes into the science about how/why it's bad.  You'll be amazed!  For those of you who watched the 90 minute video on Youtube starring Dr. Lustig, this will still have new information, and the 60 Minutes segment is only 14 minutes long, so please watch it!  Here is the same 60 Minutes video on YouTube, for those of you who live outside of the U.S. and may not be able to view the CBS website properly.

I got to bed early last night, but then I woke up in the middle of the night, terribly dehydrated.  I drank two glasses of water, but I lay there for ages, I'm not sure if I fell asleep again.  I'm doing a PP day today, but I have to really drink lots of water to ensure I'm not dehydrated again tonight.  Hopefully the scale will move down.  I guess I did more damage than I thought.

As I suspected, the number's bad!  I'll have to work hard on a PV day today to move it down.  Some of it is air, but we'll see how bad it is on Friday, after a whole week of behaving.  It's so much easier to get all my water in at the office!  I forgot, I had a big ball of marzipan yesterday.  Oops!

Well, nothing good to say.  I was doing OK, then went with the waffle fries and blew up like a balloon.  Tomorrow's number is going to be bad.  Back on the wagon tomorrow.  More water too.  This is why I'm not feeling too positive about Stabilization, as I need rules and controls.  I can't ever "eat whatever I want", starchy carbs are just bad for me.

So I managed to stay wheat-free and dairy-free, and I think not too bad calorie wise.
