Only about 3lb from my low this winter.  What a relief!

Yay, the scale is going down!  I'm still tired, I just couldn't stay asleep. I should have written this yesterday, I just can't remember everything I had.  It was tough to avoid fruit and grains, but I stayed strong!

Dukan Diet (not) -- Barcelona vacation

I had a great time in Barcelona.  I didn't even try to make it Dukan-friendly.  Here are the meals I remember:

Friday:

I ate chicken w/rice, then had a gluten-free chicken meal on the plane. I've found that staying gluten-free on the day of the flight means less tummy problems on the plane.

Saturday:

Fruit before we landed.  For breakfast, I had an absolutely fantastic gluten-free sandwich w/manchego cheese & tomatoes.  I would never have known the bread was gluten-free, it was fluffy and soft.   Lunch, I don't remember, I was tired, and dinner was tapas.  The cheese was manchego, and also had cured ham.  Bread wasn't gluten-free.  I had red wine, as I did at all dinners on my trip.  Dessert was gelato, and a wine night-cap w/my mom  and cousin at the hotel.

Sunday:

Breakfast was a croissant w/orange marmelade (as it was the rest of the trip).  We had lunch at La Bella Napoli.  I had a fantastic Risotto, and the girls had some great pizzas.  For dinner, don't remember, it was OK.  The place smelled of shrimp and lobster, and as I am allergic, it was unpleasant.  More wine and gelato for dessert again.

Monday:

Lunch was at a unfortunate restaurant where the service was slow and the food was mediocre.  My risotto seemed to be the best of all the meals, everything else was salty.  Dinner, however was fantastic.  We ate at Murivecchi (Carrer de la Princesa 59).  I had yet another risotto, this time with squash. It was delicious.  Wine, and gelato.

Tuesday:

Lunch was a gluten-free sandwich w/cured ham, and french fries.  The fries were great, the sandwich was greasy and the bread wasn't that inspiring.  It was recommended, but maybe it's just that we didn't like that kind of food, or the gluten-free bread wasn't as good as the regular one would have been. Dinner was at another fantastic Italian restaurant, Made In Italy (Carrer Ample 50).  I had chestnut pasta with pesto.  Yummy.  The best dish though was my daughter's  stuffed pasta  (looked like little drawstring purses) pear & goat cheese in a gorgonzola sauce.

Wednesday:

Lunch was junk at the zoo.  I had french fries and I forget what.  Dinner was another Italian restaurant, I had ravioli w/pumpkin in a cream sauce.

Thursday:

I went back to a gluten-free diet.  I had some granola bars and larabars, and had 2 gluten free meals on the plane.  One was chicken w/potato balls and veggies, the second was tilapia w/rice & wild rice and veggies.  Dinner at home was salad w/mexican fajita steak and rice & beans. 

I kept almonds in my bag, so I snacked on that during the trip.  I also had a few of the granola bars and larabars so I wouldn't buy candy or soda.  I had 2-3 cokes during the trip. I did have plenty of chocolate and hot chocolate, some marzipan, two desserts at a cafe, and twice had fantastic brownies.

The damage:  I weighed 146 this morning on Friday, so I put on 2-3lb of air.  I did a ton of walking, and I fit into my office pants, so I'm hoping I only gained a few lbs of fat, and some muscle.  My travel pants did get a bit tighter, but I didn't get uncomfortable until the last two days, and I wasn't feeling uncomfortable because the pants were too tight, just embarrassed from the mini muffin-top I was getting when I sat down, mostly thanks to the air from puffing up.  Time to get back to Dukan and get rid of the extra pounds!

A gain.  Hmm.  Well, I tried to keep up the liquids, perhaps I was dehydrated at the 140 mark?  We'll see tomorrow.  It's easier for me to keep up the liquids at the office.  Cleaned a bit, no workout.

P90X Winter 2011-12 Day 44-45: Chest Shoulders & Triceps

Nothing on Friday.  I did CS&T and the full ARX today, mid-afternoon.  I increased my unassisted pushups from 44 to 53.  I didn't increase any of my weights, I did increase reps in a few exercises.  I don't feel like I'm building as much muscle as I have in the past, probably due to the restrictions in diet.  Well, when I get into Consolidation, I'll try to focus more on that.  I'm going to try to squeeze in several workouts today, since I'm so behind.  We shall see!

As much as I am annoyed by going up 3lb, to see 143 as a high number is not so bad, when last year the high number was 158!  I did Chest Shoulders & Tris and ARX today.  My four-part Ikea Ivar bookshelves are leaning radically outward at one end, my elder DD and I had to take all the books off one of the four units and take it apart.  I'm not sure what happened, but I did figure out how to fix it, so I have to take apart a second unit today, then put everything back.  I'm actually going to weed a little bit, and get rid of some. As a former librarian, I have lots of books!

Water intake: 70oz?, 1 mug herbal tea.  Must drink lots more today.

Milestone:  at 140lb/10st, and lost 8kg (again)

Too bad I'm going to have a cheat day today!  I'll try to keep the calories within limits, but I'm going to have a donut, and pizza this evening.  I am taking all my 4HB supplements today to minimize the damage. Usually I don't remember to take them 4x a day, I only take them 1 or 2x.

I'm getting ready for bed, and am terribly bloated.  Just for fun, I did some measurements, and my underbust is 1.5" bigger, and my waist is 2" bigger from all this air.  It's so uncomfortable! The scale is going to be scary tomorrow morning.

Had a good workout for Plyo.  Every exercise I did was less modified than last week.  Back & biceps was the next day, and that also went well.  My abs still ached from the other day, so I only did 3 exercises (75 reps total).

P90X Winter 2011-12: Day 35-41

I really needed to work on my house this weekend, so I decided to not stress about the workouts.  I am trying to catch up now.  I plan to double up on some workouts this weekend.  I did CS&T and ARX yesterday.  I was able to increase my full pushups from 29 to 44, and did all reps of the ARX exercises except for the V-rollups & left obliques, but increased from 285 to 327.  Plyo today.

Well, considering, that's not too bad.  Whatever was going on the last two days has run its course, I'm back to a PV day.  I'll do a PP day tomorrow. I forgot to add, the last two days I ate lots of prunes, which helped my digestive system.  It's almost like my body was craving something it needed, but I'm not sure what it was.  Today I had no problems whatsoever, no cravings for anything forbidden.

Everything was going well on a PP day, until I got home.  I'd been watching many episodes of the TV show "Hoarders" this week, and decided it was time to get rid of some stuff.  Somehow, letting go of stuff translated into letting go of the diet.  I inhaled 3 small bars of chocolate, had some dessert, then vegetables too.  I also decided to concentrate on cleaning/neatening, and am skipping workouts for this weekend.  I did OK on water, not great.

Yes, the number went up on the scale.  I'm truly annoyed today because I realized that again some cheese I bought was labeled incorrectly, so it's actually cow dairy and not sheep cheese.  It takes 3 days for my body to recover from having cow dairy, and I've been wondering why my system was so sluggish and and why my asthma was acting up.  At least now I know there's a reason for my physical symptoms, but I don't like having my money basically thrown away, plus not having my protein foods available when I need them! Update on the cheese: my mom says the cheese is sheep milk, but I'm so suspicious, I gave the chunk to her.  I bought some more truly sheep and got cheese.  I also was bad and bought a chocolate-covered marzipan bar.  No gluten or dairy though!

So close to 140!   However, I went to the trade show again and had the hot chocolate, and some other chocolate goodies.  Otherwise it was a PV day.
