I'm leaving for my trip tomorrow.  I'm doing better packing-wise than last year.  I'm not going to drag any snacks/food in my suitcases, only my protein powder.  It's just heavy, and there's plenty of fantastic food in Finland, why carry stuff?  I am taking two packages of Glow gluten-free cookies, so when I want to have a gluten-free/dairy free day, I'll have something to have at coffee/tea time.

I felt terrible this morning, a robocall woke me up at 1:30AM!!!!  Couldn't get to sleep for hours, had to go to work late so I could get at least a little sleep.  My heart was racing when I first woke up at 1:30, and I was panicking.  I looked it up on the internet, and it's called "Holiday Heart Syndrome". For some people, alcohol can cause mild atrial fibrillation.  It's evidently not terribly bad for you, but it sure is scary!  The only way to avoid it is to not drink, or drink less than the trigger amount.  I guess that means 3 glasses.

Huh, back to only 20lb lost.  That's salt in the meat sauce and the rye yesterday.  Plus I haven't been getting lots of walking in, I've been in too much of a rush to get somewhere.  I'll be walking after work today and tomorrow, so we'll see what the final number will be Saturday morning!

P.S. Forgot to add that I walked 50 blocks dragging my daughter's suitcase to my Mom's after work, so I did get a workout!

That's a little more comfortable.  I think I'm sticking with PV days for now...  I do have to say I'm pretty satisfied staying around 135 for now, and I'll shoot for the final decrease down to 130 when I get back from vacation.  Really, my dream of getting down to 130 or so is a little bit vanity, getting rid of the last teeny extra abdominal fat pad.

Last time I weighed this much was in April.  Ouch!  OK, this is a recovery day, clean up my act and flush the salt away.  I am going on vacation in a week, so whatever improvements on the scale I can do, I'll try.  I am supposed to have a dinner with a friend this week, but I'll try to keep it Dukan friendly.  Not much I can do about the salt though.  Little/no alcohol this week.  Drink my flushing tea to clean out the pipes.

Today was the Pig Roast.  I should have treated it like the cheat day I had last weekend, with supplements, the special foods, the mini-exercises etc etc, but I just did whatever and sort of gave up and enjoyed everything.  I did avoid dairy and wheat, but that was more for my health than my weight!  The scale was very insulting on Sunday morning, shows all the salt, and many calories too...

I did avoid all the desserts, because I brought one with me, a Vegan Spelt Chocolate Pound Cake I bought at the greenmarket.  So, yes gluten, no wheat and no dairy.

I do not want to see a 137!  The main reason I avoid dairy most of the time is the plumbing issues, which, combined with the usual problems I have with my PP days, makes for some very frustrating days!  Unfortunately, no amount of liquids helps with my dairy slow-down.  I'm going to have a PV day today just in the hope that my system will regulate itself sooner.  Last year after a major cheat day on a Saturday, I got down to my pre-cheat weight on Wednesday.  And after I returned from vacation last year (wheat/dairy fest), I went down 7lbs after 2 weeks.  This is all just so I can feel better until the scale moves down again!

Well, I do bloat 3lb after wheat.  I won't know what the damage is until Tues/Wed/Thurs.  I wore a skirt that I wore a few weeks ago, that even though I'm puffier still fits (OK, it's a little uncomfortable, but no one would know that from looking at me).  This means that I've achieved one of my goals, not related to the number on the scale, which is that even when I'm more bloated, I'm still about the size I was pre-pudge.

OK, that's not so bad.  I think this morning's number would have actually been lower than yesterday's, as my plumbing issues cleared.  I am also not feeling super-bloated.  Maybe now there's more space in my abdominal cavity to handle "bloating" so it's not as debilitating (my lungs get compressed and I get breathless).  Anyway, the next few days will give more indication of what is going on.  I am doing a PP day today.  I am going out to dinner (Dukan-friendly!) on Wednesday. BTW, after dinner I did feel bloated.  Too much pork loin, better hydrated? I was in a knitting class all day, so I didn't have an opportunity to drink/pee, so I'm low on liquids today.

No change, but I as I said, I am smaller.  I tried on a skirt from my college days.  It has a tight waist, and is a circle skirt, so no hip issues.  It's still tight, but it snaps shut and looks OK.  Wow, never thought it would fit again!  CHEAT DAY TODAY!

Entenmann's crumb doughnut (1/2) -- meh, threw the other half out, it was too sweet.  Then I had a Paris apple tart from the green market -- this was delicious!

Went to the movies.  I saw Prometheus in 3-D.  It was fantastic! About 1/2 an hour into it, I had the garlic & green tea extract again.  I drank my tea and lemonade, snacked on almonds.  I did 90 seconds of butt squeezes in my seat, then had a caramel chocolate bar, kept drinking tea, lemonade, eating almonds.

After the movie, walked/ran from 34th St. to 59th, drank a Fresca along the way.

At 59th (Columbus Circle) about 2PM, had a waffle with splekuloos spread, strawberries, ice cream from the Wafel & Dinges truck.  Another meh.  I can say I've had it, won't bother again.  I'll be happy with a gluten-free waffle with jam at home.

Walked from 59th up Broadway to 96th, with a few shopping stops along the way.  Drank a Boylan's Diet Root Beer along the way.  Stopped at my mom's at 96th for an hour.  Drank another mug of tea.

About 4:30, walked from 96th to 116th, took the subway to 225th, where I had a slice of pizza.  It could have had a little more tomato sauce, but it was good.  Walked home to 215th a little after 6PM

A friend came over to watch a movie (The Wages of Fear).  Had garlic & green tea extract again, then made myself a hamburger w/a bun & sauteed onions & ketchup.  Drank a glass of wine.  Finally had a few spoonfuls of strawberry rhubarb pie.  Walked the dog.

Phew!  I felt I was in control the whole time.  I have no interest in having anything else in the near future.  In fact, I could have thrown the waffle away several bites into it.  I probably should have, but I did toss the last few bites.  I took simethicone to stave off any stomach issues.  Going to drink another glass of water, then to bed.  We'll see what the damage is tomorrow.

Well, still lower.  The average is higher, but I'm smaller.  Now of course I'm less interested in "cheating" tomorrow, so I'm downgrading what I was going to have.  I'm still going to have the pastry and the pizza, and some red wine at dinner, but that may be it.  I'll still follow the 4HB protocol, and I'll be walking a lot.  I was reading up on the Primal diet, sounds like that would really work for me once I'm in Consolidation!

My third PP day.  Plumbing issues, so I took my Kleritea last night.  I was hoping to flush some lbs away, but not too much activity today.  Had to race-walk/run to work in the morning, the subways weren't going to my stop.  After work had a long walk to pick up some packages from my mom's.  I had purchased a 28FF bra from ebay.  Eh, I'll have to wear an extender until it stretches a bit, and an F would have been better.

Well, I did eat about a pound of meat last night, so that makes sense.  I am wearing my small pants without too much discomfort, I don't feel like there's more to pinch, so maybe it's all internal.

I am planning a celebration meal-style cheat day on Saturday -- I want to have a slice of NY pizza before I leave for vacation, and since I will be on wheat Saturday, I will also have a pastry at breakfast, and maybe a cupcake after going to the movies.  I'm hoping it won't turn into an eating binge!  I will follow the 4HB protocol to minimize damage, and I'm hoping that by following the rules of their cheat day, I will not go overboard.  The rules for that include:
  • Small protein breakfast
  • Grapefruit juice (small glass) in the morning
    • it helps prevent fat gain but also prevents fat loss, so not good to have when actually trying to lose fat
  • Caffeine 3x a day
    • it helps move food through the digestive tract faster
  • 3-4 wedges of lime/lemon, cinnamon, garlic extract during the day
    • they keep blood sugar relatively stable
  • Wall pushups/squats for 90 seconds, once after appetizer of a larger meal and again 1.5 hrs after meal
    • This directs calories to muscles instead of getting deposited as fat elsewhere

It'll be another 3 PP days starting today. Crunching the numbers, I don't think I'm going to be starting Consolidation before my vacation, so I guess I'll start it when I get back from vacation and get rid of the vacation lbs, sometime in August.  I wish the weight would stop bouncing around, but then again, when I eat a pile of meat like I did tonight, what can I expect?  Anyway, the goal is still to get as low as possible before the trip, which may or may not mean around 130.

!$#$#%*!#&#!!!!!  I did eat a lot last night, and that bbq sauce had sugar/sodium.  Unfortunately I also had those frozen chicken breast tenders at lunch which according to the package, do have added sodium.  They're not cooked, they're raw, but they still have added salt!  You can't win.  I know that the real number is lower, I'll just have to let it go for now.  The average is messed up as well, with all those 136+ sodium-affected days.  The measurements are looking good though, and the smaller clothes are fitting, so I know that I am losing fat.

What a way to crush it!  This just shows you the effect of sodium!  I was visiting the bathroom all day yesterday.  However, to put it in perspective, it's 1.25lb less than one week ago, which has been close to my average weekly weight loss, so now I'm back to normal.  I'm definitely shooting for 130, I'm not where I want to be at 133.

Well, it's not going down very much.  I'm not happy, but I'm still hopeful for another drop in the next few days.  Of course, lunch is the last of the rotisserie chicken, which does taste odd, probably heavy on the sodium, as Dukan Dietress reminded me.   It's my third PP day this week.  I am wearing my tiny size 2 BR pants, but they're tight and somewhat uncomfortable.  There wasn't much of a muffin top on Saturday when I tried them on, but today, it's worse.  However, given the weather, I may not have another opportunity to wear them before September, so I'm going to just suffer a little bit.  I put on a shirt that hides my tummy a bit, so it's not quite so noticeable.

I'm going to go crazy on the water today,  I feel dehydrated, thanks to a PP day and the sodium from the hot dogs.  It's another PP day today, I'm hoping to lose some of this extra weight, hopefully it's mostly air & water retention.

So this is what happens when I eat like a normal person?  Scary!  I don't feel like I look like a blimp though, so it's sort of weird.  I'll have a low volume/low calorie day today to compensate, which is what we should do normally anyway!  Later: This turned into a PP day, because I left my house at 9:45am to quickly take the cat to the vet with what I thought was a dislocated jaw, but then I had to take her to a vet hospital, then wait around to find out what the prognosis was , and I wasn't home until 5!  Turns out the cat had a loose canine which was preventing her from closing her mouth, so the jaw wasn't dislocated at all, so much better situation, and a lot cheaper!  Meanwhile, during the day, I was in midtown Manhattan, I had to figure out what to eat as cheap as possible, since I am cash poor right now, and wasn't planning to be away all day, so I didn't have any snacks, no beverages, no nothing with me.  I got a 1/2 a rotisserie chicken, which I had to tear away at with a flimsy fork (they didn't give me a knife!) and I picked up my goat yogurt & drank three cups of ice water at my office which was near the vet hospital, so it made sense to make it a PP day.

Dance of joy!  Of course, losing 6kg isn't a lot compared to some other Dukaneers, but it's my 6kg!  I also tried on some Banana Republic size 2 pants that were tiny, and I was planning to give away because I would never fit into them, and now they fit! It's going to be a cool week next week, so I will be wearing them, as well as the size 2 Old Navy pants that fit earlier, but they weren't comfortable.  Now they're just fine.

The average weight isn't much less, but it is less. That day I blew up to 137 really screwed up the numbers!  A little bounce up today thanks to a PV day.  I think I'm drinking too much water, I felt bloated yesterday.  On PV days, I'm going to cut back just a little.  I also drank an herbal tea that helps in the WC department last night, I just want to get things cleared out to see what's what, so I'm hoping for good news on the scale tomorrow morning!

I also tried on a dress that I had made for me when I was 19, very form-fitting.  Still a little tight in the top half, can't zip it closed!  Anyway, looks like I won't get into much consolidation before I go on vacation, so although I'm going to follow consolidation rules on my three-week trip as best as I can, I am going to have to finish up in August and consolidate then.
