Dukan Diet Challenge Fall 2012 -- Week 7 Monday & Tuesday

Water intake: low-medium (had too much tea the last two days)

I had a mostly PV day yesterday, and a PP day today.

Sweet potato fries - was tempted to get seconds, but no seconds in Dukan, so I was good
Asparagus & mushroom frittata (dairy-free, w/goat cheese)
  -- I made this myself, so I know it's Dukan-friendly
Apple crisp (DF/WF, yes, has oats & sugar, but gluten-free flour) -- multiple servings
Red wine (2 small glasses)

Dukan Diet Challenge Fall 2012 -- Week 5 & 6 Saturday-Thursday

Day 34-39
Weight: 144-146

It's creeping up!

Water intake: low to average

Highlights:

Saturday, went to Costco, had a hot dog w/o a bun there, can't remember what else.  I think it was a PV day.

Sunday, went to the circus, and went prepared with snacks, but caved and ate some of the free food:
2 ice cream bars (caramel), a soft pretzel.  Had 2 slices of pizza for dinner, plus 2-3 garlic knots, probably 1-2 glasses of wine.

Monday, had nothing until after they drew blood for my annual physical, then drank my protein drink and ate the yogurt I had brought with me.  Walked across the Brooklyn Bridge w/my cousin, wandered around Vinegar Hill, then had a soy hot chocolate and 1/2 a berry tart.  Took the subway to Wall Street, which looked like a ghost town by Broad Street, so bought some candy and a diet soda from a small store there.  Since most of the buildings there are closed, I don't know how the businesses down by South Ferry are going to stay in business...  Walked around the tip of the island, then up to the WTC.  So, lots of exercise!  Had dinner at home, steak w/salsa?

Tuesday, got a free lunch, I selected ropa vieja, which came with yellow rice, and fried sweet plantains.  I stuffed myself.

Wednesday was a PP day, had steak and yogurt at work, I think more of the same (although I think I had bbq sauce w/the steak at dinner)

Thanksgiving, had a small glass of a berry liqueur, my kids were driving me crazy, then some yogurt and a rye round w/goat butter. Our holiday dinner was turkey w/cranberry relish (made w/orange juice), some baked sweet potato, carrot casserole (has bread crumbs) & red wine.  Dessert was a berry pie (delicious crust!) w/Breyer's vanilla ice cream.  I seconds of almost everything, had trouble waddling away from the table!

Apart from Monday, my exercise quotient was low, and my food quantities were  high on several days.  I am not showing a lot of restraint right now...  Upcoming is my birthday (50) on Thursday.

Partial PP day (morning). The puffiness is going down, but I'm dehydrated, so I'm going to have to up the level of water.  I haven't been drinking enough at my desk at work... I think there was a lot of salt in my restaurant meal (see below), and combined with the wine, I tried to counteract it with a lot of water.

Dukan Diet Fall Challenge 2012 -- Week 3/4

Day 19-25
Weight: 143-147

! Yes, I've not been very good. I had some events and decided to enjoy them.  I was also away on Monday, which is why I did not send in my weigh-in info.


Sunday:  drove up to the Hudson Valley, where I had wine at an event, then steak, potatoes & root veggies for dinner.

Monday: scrambled eggs & potatoes for breakfast. At a morning event, I broke down and had some delicious small blueberry pastries.  I also had a marzipan bar w/chocolate.

Tuesday and Wednesday I spent trying to catch up on my hydration, I was extremely dehydrated from the weekend.  They were mostly PV days.

Thursday was the Thanksgiving meal at the office. I had apple crumb pie w/cinnamon whipped cream.  Then I had a box of Good n' Plenty (licorice has wheat) on the way home, and then stopped off and picked up a snack bag of pretzels.  I also had some candy corn and some ginger thins. 

 So this morning, my 147lb is water weight and air.

So I'm not doing too well!  I have to get back to my Challenge mindset, which was totally interrupted by Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy.  I guess I am one of those who has gained a few Sandy pounds.

Dukan Diet Challenge Fall 2012 -- catchup post

Day 14-18
Weight: 140.75b-144lb


My diet was OK on Sunday

Monday, I think it was still OK (worked remotely from home for a stressful 10.5 hrs)

Tuesday, I had potatoes at brunch.  Had to work at home, then be driven to our alternate office location.  At dinner, I had a glass of beer and meatballs (ingredients unknown) w/rice.

Exercise was low on Sunday-Tuesday. 

Wednesday, I walked 75 blocks before I got a bus home, but then I had a lot of candy later...  I was very puffy this morning, which explains the 144lb.  I've been eating PV today.

Water intake wasn't optimal.


We are fine in Northern Manhattan

We live on a hill uptown, so we didn't experience any power loss or flooding.  My office is above the demarcation line (39th and south is still dark), so the office was open yesterday.  Commuting was a nightmare though, it took me 3hrs to get home, instead of the usual 45min.  This morning, one of the two subways near my house was working, so I zipped to work without problems.  I do have co-workers who live in the blackout zone.  One walked in Mon-Wed, maybe today again.
