Water intake:  103oz (3l) & 13oz lemonade & 3 mugs of herbal tea = 152oz (4.5l)  I'm going to float away!  I'm definitely hydrated.

OK, I'm not surprised, some of that is air.  I don't feel terrible though, so if I just leave yesterday as a blow-out day... There is a party upstairs in my building on Saturday.  I have to start planning what I am going to do to avoid going crazy.  Last year I ate handfuls of corn chips and lots of wine.  Hmmm.  Maybe I'll have a pint of Guinness only (from my fridge) instead of the bottomless cup of red wine.  Large carrots as snacks?  I have 5lb ready to go.  Eat a delicious Dukan-friendly dinner -- steak? before I go up so I'll be stuffed and won't be hungry.

Well, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed all my naughty foods.  I will have a PP day Friday.  Hopefully I won't feel too terrible thanks to all that wheat.

Who's going to watch 60 Minutes on Sunday?  They are having an interview with Robert Lustig, who did that 90min video about how toxic sugar is!

Sniff.  Still not back in the 130's.  I'm still puffy, and I had more sodium than usual, so I guess that's what is going on.  It's a PP day today.  I am feeling tired and draggy.  I'm going to try to get to bed earlier, maybe I need more sleep.  Also, last week it was in the 70's, this morning it was 31, so I'm hibernating at my desk.  More water tomorrow!

LOL!  Yes, I was puffy this morning, wheezing as I was walking to the subway.  I'm sure sodium also played a part in this as well.  However if puffy means 140.75, I'm making huge advances!  Plus I didn't look huge either.  I have to drink loads to make up for this today.

Yes, the scale went up, but it's still in the 130's!  This is great.  I did feel puffy yesterday even before the FF.  Also, my average is now in the 130's.  YAY!  The average was .75lb less than the week before.   I'm feeling so positive, I think the extra walking is really helping.  OK, I'm doing P90X lite, since I'm only doing 2 weight-lifting routines right now, but so what?

I tried on some clothes this morning.  Looks like I should be able to wear my pending size 4 pants next week when it's cooler.  I also found another pair of pants that fit now.  As for my too-big pants, I have a friend who is losing weight, so I decided to hold on to the 8's and 6's for her to use.  I liberated the hangers, and they are in a bag on the closet floor, so if they don't fit her eventually, they're easy to grab and donate. AND, I tried on my old skinny pants (from waistlines were high, which means they are absolutely not forgiving at all, and there's no stretch).  Just a tiny muffin top now, but I was able to button them up easily.  These used to fit me when I was 135lb 20yrs ago. Walked to Target & back (15+ min each way), coming back carrying purchases & alot uphill.

So close to 20lb & 9kg lost!  I'll have a whole host of milestones coming up in the next few pounds.  I walked after work for 40min.  Yes, the FF were bad but they were vegetables, not wheat/gluten or dairy.  I did do what Sandi suggests, stop, think, what could happen, is this what you want, and in this case the answer was yes I still wanted them.

Today is a PP day.  I was a little puffy this morning, but I am still shrinking, and the number starts with a 13, so I'm totally fine with this.  Fast 10min walk and then back again at lunch. After work, I walked 40min.

Another loss.  I had a long walk yesterday after work, 50min in addition to a walk during lunch.  Today I walked 30min in addition to a walk at lunch.  No other workout, I didn't feel that great, but in hindsight it was because I was puffy and hyperventilating a bit.

P90X Winter 2011-12 Day 79-80: Shoulders & Arms

No Plyo, I walked 40min on the treadmill on an incline Sunday, so that's my cardio.

I did ARX with my elder DD, even though she was feeling negative and complained, she was able to do 151 reps!  Fantastic!  She'll do better on Friday when we do it together again.  I was able to do all 349, as I got rest periods helping her with her form.

S&A went fine, went down in some weights because of the time off.

Got rid of that extra water, phew!  I hit a new low for this year.  Last year's low was 138.25.  How much of that was dehydration, hard to say now.

I felt puffy this morning.  Is it the sweet potato?  Also the hot dogs have a lot of sodium, so I should have a loss tomorrow...  I tried on some of my capris & shorts.  I'm not into the smallest ones I wore last year, even though I'm at the same weight.  Hmmmm.  Maybe I had more muscle then?

P90X Winter 2011-12 Day 78: Chest & Back

I skipped three weeks.  My week in Barcelona was Week 8 (recovery week), but after that I had 3 weeks off.  I'm going to do Weeks 11 and 12, then start a new round so I have a full round before my summer vacation in July.

I did C&B today.  I'm several pounds lighter than when I started this round of P90X, so I had 15 total pushups more than Week 3, but my pullups total was a little less.

I also did ARX, 304 reps.  I had trouble with the V-ups and the obliques.

Although I "gained" .25 the last week, my average weight for the week was actually 1.36lb less than last week, so I'm not going to worry about it.  I was dehydrated last week.  I've been making more of an effort to drink more water at work, and so the weight loss this week is more accurate.  I also have to remind myself that I gained some muscle while I was in Barcelona, with all the walking that we did, and I have been shrinking.  I started my P90X workouts again today.  Tomorrow I'll do Plyo, maybe S&A in the evening, so I'll only be behind one day in my usual Th-W schedule.

Stable weight, I'm fine with that, it starts with 13!  My lucky number by the way.  I'm going to have a chicken-centric week to boost my fat-loss.

I was looking back at my weight in my adult years.  It's hard to tell what's normal for me as I have added muscle over the years, my lowest when I was swimming a lot was 126 (age 22), but I was around 135 when I was lifting weights in the early 1990's (age 27-30), so that seems a more reasonable weight to go for.  The reason I posted 130 as my possible goal weight is that with the 2lb I'll put on from gluten (not wheat), and probably 3lb from doing P90X religiously once I am in consolidation, this will bring me up to 135.

Good news on the scale, but I need to up the water again today to make sure I keep intake down and hydration up!  Yesterday was PV day, but actually I only ate veggies at lunch, so since I was PP for the rest of the day, I am continuing today.  I'll have eggs tonight to keep calories down, as another pork chop for lunch.  Yes, too fatty I know, but I got a 6-pack on sale, so it's a frequent meal this week.  I'll have some chicken this weekend for sure.  BTW, I was planning to cheat and have a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's, but then I decided I'm so close, I'm not going to mess it up!  No shake for me this year.

Shopping in your closet

I am definitely smaller, my tighter beige pants are fitting better. I'm also going to go through my dresses/skirts to see what fits now. The last two days I wore a dress and a skirt that looked great and weren't borderline tight.  Are any of you now wearing sizes in your closet that you weren't able to get into for a long time?  What are you doing with your "too big" clothes?  I am currently a 4-6.  I am contemplating getting rid of the size 10 pants.  I think that if I reach my goal (4) and have 6 as post-holiday/vacation clothing, I would be fine.  I am still going to hold onto some small 8s, but the 8-10, why keep them?  One reason I started Dukan was I didn't want to start buying clothes in a larger size.  If I get rid of the 8-10, then I will be more mindful of staying within my weight limits, as I won't have clothes to wear.  Thoughts?

Only .25lb, which is fantastic!  I'm very excited, considering I was not gluten-free.  I'm seeing more definition in my abs, so hopefully I will be well into the 130s at the end this week.  OK, I had another rye round, but it was freshly baked.

Well, must have been the knish.  Still, I'm feeling good about this.  My diet today was non-dukan, but I kept it wheat-free (or was there wheat in my beer? No idea).  I spent the day doing more heavy-duty cleaning in my house, so I was not sitting on the couch!  I also found a goat butter yesterday.  I'm so excited, I'd rather be eating butter than margarine anyway, and American margarine has no flavor (or rather the flavor is sometimes downright bad).  I've been importing some yummy Finnish margarine in my suitcase every summer, but now that you're only allowed one suitcase, and there's a weight limit, I can't really bring back 12 containers like I used to.  The goat butter is imported from England, and it was very tasty on my rye bread.

A new low this year, but I'm not getting too excited yet, I want to stay below 140 for several days before I get happy.  I've definitely been shrinking, and I fit into my size 4 winter pants that were too tight.  Just in time for spring, so I can't wear them!  I did wear them today, but hiding under my long coat was a muffin-top, so not ready for officewear yet.  I didn't feel uncomfortable otherwise, though.  I'll have to work on my water intake to make sure I'm really low and not dehydrated.

A WHOOSH!  I'm so happy!  I'm doing a PP day again because I want to try and cement this improvement.  This is the third time I've gotten down to 140 this year, and then I moved up again.  Not this time, I'm hoping.

I have to confess that I've forgotten to post some transgressions.  On Tuesday I had 4 GL cookies (Glow brand, they are FANTASTIC!).  On Monday I had about a cup's worth of GF apple crisp.  I also had a pint of Murphy's Stout last Friday.

A PP day.  That loss is sort of standard when I go off gluten.  It's higher when I go off wheat, but I don't get as puffy from rye.  I wasn't really hungry in the evening, but I decided to have some scrambled eggs and some almonds anyway.  I should have had even more water than I did.  We'll see what the scale says tomorrow!

Lazy Chicken Curry recipe

Sandi requested that I post my "recipe" for the chicken curry I make w/goat yogurt.  I apologize in advance, as it's probably not what you are expecting.

Ingredients:

Melt some butter or put a little olive oil so that it lightly covers the bottom of an oven-safe dish/pan.  Take a sheet of wax paper, tear or cut it to about the same shape as the bottom of the dish, and dip it on the bottom of the dish, so you now have the butter/oil on the bottom of the dish and on the wax paper.  This will keep the chicken moist.  If you don't want to add any fat at all, at least use the wax paper, it'll still decrease the dryness of the chicken.  Place your chicken breasts/breast tenderloins (raw not pre-cooked) in the dish, and put the wax paper on top, slip it into the oven.  This is an old Julia Child recipe on doing the chicken, btw.  Bake on 375 or so until they are done.  Breast tenders may be done in 15min.  If you are cooking frozen tenders like the ones I get from Target, it should be about 25min.  Depending on the size of your skinless, deboned whole breasts, 20-35 min. 45min is way too long, they will be hard and dry, they should be white inside but still juicy.  If you are used to using only a fork to cut your chicken, that's not going to work here, you will need a knife, they are not flaky.

Curry sauce:

Spray cooking oil into frying pan.  Add spoonfuls of yogurt (I use goat because I am allergic to cow dairy), the amount is up to you.  Then I heat it up, and liberally sprinkle curry powder (I use Morton & Basset blend), then stir as it is cooking.  The curry flavor will get more intense after a few minutes, as it is incorporated fully into the yogurt, so don't go crazy.  Keep tasting and adding curry to taste.  If the flavor is too strong, add more yogurt.  It's done when it tastes good and the sauce is nicely blended. Once you've put some chicken on a plate, pour it over your chicken.

That's it!  I spend 2 min on the chicken prep (oil/dump chicken/insert into oven), maybe 5 min on the sauce.

I slept poorly again, about 5 hrs, and I was exhausted all day, partly due to sleep deprivation (I also had to get to work 1 hr earlier), partly due to dehydration I realized later in the day.  I felt better mid-afternoon after drinking a lot of water, so I know it was the dehydration today.  I got to sleep a little earlier.  No cow dairy today.

Someone took over my body!  I binged on chocolate covered goodies today.  I did get some walking in, didn't drink enough water, and was low in calories (spoiler alert: the scale didn't move).  Hmm.  I was punished though, because I just couldn't/didn't go to sleep until after 3AM.
