Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 13 Monday

I was dehydrated this morning, so we shall see.  My cousin is visiting, so I will do PV for the next two days, then do PP for a day or two.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 13 Sunday

Day 89 (May 29, 2011)
Weight: 141.25lb, gained .5lb

That's not too bad considering!  Back on track today though. Well, the three dates weren't part of the diet, but hopefully that won't ruin my day...  I watched a Dr. Oz show with this decadent chocolate fix recipe for crankiness. I'm not feeling cranky today, but it seemed like everyone on the show thought it was yummy, and no sugar! I've been doing lots of housework, so I've been moving plenty...

I guess I'm settling in.  My average weight is still going down, so I'm focusing on that.  My mom came over to help me clean/straighten up the house.  She is a miracle worker, the place looked fabulous by the time she went home after dinner.  Oh yes, the dinner.  My elder DD made it, and when I got to the table, there was a 1/2 glass of wine.  OK, I had it, and also the roasted potatoes and peas, and also some chocolate candies.  However, I've burned lots of calories today, so I think I'll be OK.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 13 Friday

Day 87 (May 27, 2011)
Weight: 141.5lb, gained 1.25lb

Grrr.  I didn't get enough sleep, and I did have a whole glass of water less than 1hr earlier, but I was so dehydrated when I woke up 1 hr before I was supposed to, I had to drink up.  I also felt a little puffy.  We'll see what the scale shows tomorrow.  Went clothes shopping with my elder DD, and fit well into Old Navy 4 bottoms.

I walked in the heat from the office for 45 blocks.  Along the way, I realized my lungs were congested, and I stupidly didn't have my inhaler, so I bought: 1 can of coke. My lungs felt better after the caffeine. Anyway, it's been 3 months since I've had a soda w/sugar or HFCS. Yes, I could have gotten diet, but I actually didn't want to have aspartame.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 13

Day 86 (May 26, 2011)
Weight: 140.25lb, lost .25lb

Well, I'm hitting several milestones all at once.  I'm less than 64kg (63.75kg), I've lost 8kg, and I'm .25 shy of  10st and 140lb!  It's always obvious when there's outer fat that's disappearing, but I think we all forget there is that internal, or visceral fat that disappears.  I'm still not clear where I'm going to end up.  I was 124 when I was swimming a lot in my twenties.  Then I was 135 when I was in my thirties, exercising (and partying) a lot.  I still have an annoying though small fat pad on my stomach.

I'm glad I took the day off. Slept terribly, so I definitely needed the extra hours I got. Tired and achy, but drinking LOTS of fluids.  Walked the dog, and then a brief walk to the store with the shopping cart.  I think I'm going to do a PP day, I'm not that hungry anyway, and the regular cold eeze had a little sugar, so that's more than enough carbs!  I also bought the sugar-free cold eeze & ricola while I was out, so that will keep the unnecessary carbs to a minimum.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 12 Monday

Day 83 (May 23, 2011)
Weight: 142lb, lost .5lb

Same old numbers.  However, my average 7 day weight has been slowly decreasing, so.  Last week I was hovering at 142-143.5, now it's 142-142.5, so there is a slight improvement.  I think I have a cold, not bad allergies.  I slept poorly last night and I'm feeling crummy tonight.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 12 Saturday

Looks like I'm seesawing around 142-142.5.  I want to see a 141 on the scale!  I did get more sleep, so that was good.  I could have gotten even more though.  I'll try again tonight.  My asthma was acting up, so no workouts.

Hmm.  Yesterday, all the sweet potato chips were a bad idea.  True they had no salt, but the calories do add up.  Then I had that mozzarella in the evening, and now my dairy allergy has kicked in and I feel crummy.  No workouts (I did do Ab Ripper X), I did have a long walk though, and various chores.  Back to workouts tomorrow, and trying to get below 142.

I did not get enough sleep, so today's task is not to gain.  It's so easy to just eat to keep from nodding off.  I felt really drained, so decided to skip the workout and do it tomorrow.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 12 Wednesday

Coming up on 3 months!  I was bloated today, and I couldn't figure out why, until it occurred to me, the diet soda I had is CARBONATED.  Doh.  Should have burped.  The spice mixture on the salmon has a fair amount of (lots) salt, so hopefully the number on the scale won't be too terrible.

P90X Day 73: Shoulders & Arms

Trying to increase my weights, but I'm running into a problem with the ones going up to 20lb.  My hand grip strength is just not that good, so my second round of curls I was running out of steam because my hands were tired, not because my biceps were wiped.  Hopefully I'll be able to build up strength as the weeks go by.  I'm also up to 13.5 on two tricep exercises.  My shoulders are still lagging behind...  Did some of ARX, 6 exercises only.  I'll try to do the rest tomorrow morning.

I need to buy more cheese, I probably ate more almonds that I otherwise would have, because I didn't have anything else to snack on.  I hope to see a smaller number tomorrow in spite of the almonds.

P90X Day 72: Not Plyo, X Stretch instead

I am still feeling a little sore from L&B on Saturday, so I decided to do X Stretch, which I haven't done often enough in the last few weeks.  It felt good, I should do this more often!

P90X Day 68: Legs & Back

Forgot to post that I did this workout on Saturday!  I can't remember the workout anymore, but I seem to recall fading a bit at the end.  I think I did 1 unassisted close-grip pullup.

P90X Day 71: Chest & Back

It's week 11.  I decided to not worry so much about increasing pushup reps, and try to concentrate more on quality over quantity.  I still increased my pushups to 121, 12 more than 2 weeks ago.  I'm sure being 2.5lb lighter doesn't hurt either.  As for pullups, didn't do any unassisted, and kept within 2 of last time.  I'm beginning to see more definition in my arms, very exciting!

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 11 Monday

Day 76 (May 16, 2011)
Weight: 143lb, gained 1lb

I can't really complain.  I was dehydrated yesterday.  My pants today are getting big.  I'm going to have to buy a new pair just to keep me afloat until the fall.  I also have to buy a pair of jeans (again!)  I'm going to wait a few more weeks of shrinking before I go try some on.  Measured my underbust, and it's now 30, bordering on 29.75.  Most of my bras are going to be unwearable soon. 

It's a PP day, except oops I ate a vegetable at dinner!

Very satisfied with that.  I was feeling very skinny UNTIL around 10PM, when my bra suddenly felt very tight.  I was blowing up!  I now feel pregnant.  Why?  Let's see what I ate today:

OK, no problems there.  Then, on the way to Target I had:

Roast chicken -- only seasoned with ground black pepper
A very large baked sweet potato

Could I be ballooning because of the sweet potato, or the aspartame?  The last time I blew up, I had carrots, sweet like the sweet potato.  But I have a vague recollection that I had a diet soda.  I didn't record it, as it didn't have any calories, but it was about 4+ hours before I expanded, which is an unusually long time for me to have a reaction.  The sweet potato seems like a better candidate for causing the problem.  The other thing is I was dehydrated during the day, and I drank a lot of water during my workout and afterwards.  Could that have affected something?  Hmmm. I am going to have to keep track of this new information!

A new low!  It's been 4 years since I've been this light.  I need to be strict, so I will continue to lose.  I was able to button up my old size 7 jeans, but they're still uncomfortable.

P90X Day 64 & 66: Chest, Shoulders & Tris and Back & Biceps

My schedule is completely off, but I'm just going to do my best to catch up.

CS&T went well (it was last week Thursday).  Then my weekend happened, and I didn't feel up to doing anything until yesterday.  I did walk 1-1.5 hours after work 3x this week, I walked 30min at lunch 4x and got off the subway 1-2 stops early 3x (15-20min), so I've been getting some cardio even while I've been "taking it easy".

Yesterday I did Back & Biceps.  I did my first close-grip pullup unassisted in 2 years!  I'm light enough now, and my arms are strong enough. When I feel like I can start doing unassisted ones, I try to do the close-grip pullups and/or chinups first. I switch them with whatever is supposed to be first, and do the other one later.  Yesterday I switched the Wide Fronts with the Max Pullups -- I do the close-grip as my Max Pullups.

I'm going to do L&B and X Stretch tomorrow, and try to do BBL's High & Tight and Shoulders & Arms Sunday.
Monday: Plyo
Tuesday: C&B
Wednesday: BBL workout of some sort

Thursday: Opera!  No workout
Friday: Legs & Back
Saturday: X Stretch
Sunday: CS&T & Plyo
Monday: B&B

Yay!  Plus I am still shrinking.  The measuring tape (OK, breathing in & snug) shows 27.5" around the waist.  A few weeks ago, it was a snug 28.5.  My underbust is about 30", down from 30.5" a few weeks ago.

Still another day or two before I see where I'm really at.  My original end date for my cruise phase was supposed to be this Friday, but I definitely don't see myself stopping.  Even at my lowest so far doing Dukan, 143.25, I was 8lb away from my goal weight, so it's going to be another 3-6 weeks at least.  I was hoping to have 3-4 weeks before my vacation in early July to start the consolidation phase.  There's still hope if I start to do 2 PP each week.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 10 Monday

IT'S TIME TO PAY DAY!  Couldn't sleep, as I couldn't lay down, I was gasping for air.  I was so bloated!  Check these measurements out:

Underbust normal: 30.5"  this morning it was 34"
Waist normal: 29" this morning it was 34"

Now imagine my poor lungs under all that pressure.  It did help to go to work, where there are no cats (I have 3) and no dog (1).  I am allergic to both, I take allergy pills, but in a crisis like this, it makes the situation much worse, I was wheezing so badly.  The dehydration caused by the wine & salted cashews didn't help either.  Now you can understand why I like the Dukan Diet so much, I feel great on it!  It's just hard to live with NEVER having wheat again...  Every now and then I indulge.  Sometimes I seem to get off scot free, other times it's a nightmare.

We shall see what the real damage is in the next few days.  HOWEVER, this fall off the wagon isn't filled with the bad feelings I had after the wine & corn chips episode last weekend.  I mean, shoveling the corn chips was just BAD, and addict behavior.  The donuts and cookies and cake, even though they were addict behavior, were delicious, so at least I'm suffering for something enjoyable.  I know, excuses excuses.  Back to good behavior now.

I was super excited to reach the 143s again, too bad I had two functions to go to this weekend!

Friday I had an alumni evening at my elem-middle-high school, but I did OK...

Could have been worse.  Tonight's function was delicious!  I enjoyed every single forbidden bite.  Yes, as you will see, the weight gain was unfortunate, but some of that is air, as I had some wheat.  I tried to minimize the damage by doing 90s of air squats & had a garlic extract pill and some ALA, as Tim Ferriss' program suggests.

Moving slowly, but at least it's in the right direction.  I got an invite to a function tomorrow evening, and another one on Saturday.  I'm going to have no wine, and only approved foods. I want the scale to keep moving down.  It took me 2 weeks to get back on track, I don't want another two weeks to go by and be stuck...

The spice mixture on my salmon had a lot of salt, so we'll see how much lower the scale goes tomorrow.  I haven't been eating a lot of vegetables.  I had asparagus with my roast beef, but that's all I had today.  I really craved the chicken w/yogurt curry sauce, I had seconds!

Seriously off schedule, I was all ready to do Legs & Back, but I had to stop after the first 5 min for a family obligation.  Anyway, I had never done the entire H&T routine, so I thought why not?  I used 3lb ankle weights and the medium band.  OUCH!  I'm waiting to see what my legs feel like tomorrow!

Today was my second PP in this mini attack phase.  I hope to be down in the 143s tomorrow.  Boy, PP days are boring.  Skipped my P90X workout, something came up, but I did get a small walk in before work.

Dukan Diet -- Cruise Week 9 Monday

Day 62 (May 2, 2011)

I've decided to do a mini-attack phase to get my head back in the right place. Also, I haven't done 2 PP days a week at all in the cruise phase.  I did OK when I did a PP day and a C&B workout, so I think I'm going to try to do 2 PP days a week, try to move the weight loss along a little faster.  BTW, that's following his 2/7 plan, not his 5/5 or 1/1 plan.  Dukan says that the 2/7 plan is fine if the weight loss goal isn't that great.  My cruise phase was supposed to finish the middle of May (in two weeks), but I'm not on schedule.  Right now, I'll probably be at my goal weight mid-June, four weeks later which is frustratingly slow.  Time to follow the plan more closely!

P90X Day 59: Shoulder & Arms

I'm a day behind schedule, doing the routine on Sunday instead of Saturday.  I had to go to work unexpectedly early on Saturday, but I did have a nice walk in the morning, maybe 20 blocks.  On Sunday, I increased almost all my weights and/or reps.  I only used 5lb once, for the flip-grip triceps kickbacks, but it was too light, I ended up using 8lb on the second round.  I guess that no-workout recovery week was the right thing to do. I was dehydrated, so I had to drink about a quart of water right before and during the workout because my chest was tight (I have asthma).  My hands and feet were cold, which usually means my circulation isn't at its best.  I like to think it's because my blood is too thick to get through the little capillaries.  Once I'd had about 3 pints of liquids, my hands and feet warmed up.

Day 60 (April 30, 2011)
Weight: 144.75, gain .25lb

Totally fell off the wagon this evening.  Went to a party, had several glasses of wine and endless scoop-style corn chips.  Well, back to work again I suppose.

I won't really know what the situation is until tomorrow, because I get dehydrated from both wine & corn chips.  Fighting cravings today.  It's going to take a few days to get back on track, of course.
