I made the mistake of not taking snacks with me when I went downtown to run some errands, and eating goat yogurt before I left, so my carb intake was affecting me.  At first I was golden and I got a small salad, but it had no protein/fat.  I succumbed (sort of), and bought a bag of sweet potato chips.  So I had too many carbs and fat, but it was not total junk.  So I am hoping the scale is a little lower morning, and I will eat lightly tomorrow

Got puffy again as I was arriving at home!  Hmm.  But by the next morning, it was resolved.  Tomorrow I will skip the walnuts, but have the same yogurt/supplements and see if I'm puffy again.

I lost a lot of air yesterday, and I actually feel a little dizzy right now (just before noon).  I was hungry this morning, but I am going for a zero-carb day again today. Well, the Colonix fiber I have every morning has 9g of carbs, 8g of fiber, but that adds up a net carb of 1g, so that's almost zero-carb.  The egg white protein powder has 4g.  Maybe I'll skip the powder on PP days to bring the carb level down even further.  Otherwise, yesterday went fine.  Today was fine as well.  However, I did eat my second hamburger patty late in the evening.  I have to stop having these snacks/meals shortly before bedtime.  I know people are less successful when they eat only an hour or two before bed.

Dukan Diet -- Week 3 end and Week 4 start

I am getting super strict on PP days.  No more dairy!  I think I've been getting too many carbs with all the yogurt I was eating, so today I will have:

eggs, steak, turkey sausage (only turkey and spices), hamburger

I had some treats over the weekend, including 2 glasses of Coke & a Gin & Tonic, but I continued to be GF/DF.  Yesterday I had oven-baked home fries w/my eggs, and a sweet potato knish at dinner.  So this morning I weighed 154!  Yes, I was puffy, but really, I'm going in the wrong direction. 

I know others have gone to dairy-free during Dukan, of course I just bought 6 tubs of goat yogurt, so I will only have on PV days I guess.  It wasn't until I read about how the body will not burn fat as long as carbs are coming in that I realized I really have to have no-carb days, otherwise the PP days just aren't going to be effective.  After all, Dukan is supposed to work even when you aren't doing tons of exercise.

OK, time to do some detective work.  I was feeling less puffy, then I poofed up by the time I got home from work.  I took some supplements I hadn't taken the day before, and I also had some walnuts (been nut-free for two days).  The suspects:

Stevia
Walnuts
Kelp supplement

The other supplements I took (vit D supplement, garlic supplement, vit B-50 supplement, mega green tea extract) I have been taking for months/yrs the same w/o puffiness.  I am allergic to crustaceans, so it could be the kelp, but I was having puffiness issues before I started taking the kelp (mid Feb).  I am going to skip the walnuts & kelp tomorrow, and see if the puffiness goes down.  Maybe I just have to forgo the nuts.  I swapped almonds for walnuts, but it may be that I just can't do nuts in the volume I've been doing them.  I will also switch to the stevia powder packets if the walnut/kelp removal doesn't help

I've been feeling terrible all morning, which I am thinking is due to the fact that I am still using the stevia powder, and therefore often getting a megadose by accident.  I need to throw it out, as the bloating and wheezing is my ragweed allergy acting up again.  I keep thinking it's wasteful to throw it out, but it's not good for me and it has to go!

I didn't do any workouts.  My early dinner at Chipotle was a terrible mistake.  I was bloated, and just wanted to sit down and not move.  This wasn't just a feeling, I really felt like I was waddling.

Ok, the scale moved a little bit.  I'm still expecting a whoosh in the next few days.  Patience!

So why didn't I do the whole routine?  I started wheezing and feeling faint a few times, and decided I'd better not do more.  My daughter had a little kitchen mishap that involved smoke, so maybe the air quality was bad, or maybe it was the second tea this afternoon and the resulting extra dehydration.  Anyway, I did ARX, and I'll do better next week.  Something is better than nothing, which is what I was doing only a week ago!  I'm committed to doing some part of P90X or alternative exercise the whole 90 days .

I had a scare a little before dinner, I bent down to do something and poked my eye on a metal skirt hanger hanging off a bookshelf.  Thank goodness I closed my eyelid, as I could feel my eyeball being moved.  I was visualizing blood flowing everywhere, but fortunately, it felt much worse than it looked.  My lid has a bruise and a scratch, and my eye was sensitive the rest of Saturday evening.  I immediately had some wine to calm down, and no workout...

Later:  Whew, I did the entire Chest & Back routine!  My numbers were pretty sad, but every week they'll get better.  Doing a video definitely pushes me, as I would have quit way before I actually did.

I was reviewing my spreadsheet and data from 2012 and 2011.  I had the best losses when I was doing P90X at the same time, so that's it then, time to start up again tomorrow!  I'll have to find an exercise bra I can squeeze into, but then again I have a range of sizes, I just have to find the right one. 

I'm also logging my weight into my spreadsheet again. I was using an app to keep track of my water during the day, which is fine, but I need the feedback I get from the chart regarding my weight.

Getting serious! Dukan Diet 2013 Week 1 take two

If I work at it, I could be back in the 130s by summer.  I'm going to go for it!  This also means I am going to have to start working out too.  As much as it's hard to do P90X, I may have to include several per week, as right now, I'm not doing anything else.  OR, I can start doing kettle bells 3x a week, and do some sort of ab work.  I don't know, I'll have to work on that.

I'm also logging my weight into my spreadsheet again.  I was using an app to keep track of my water during the day, which is fine, but I need the feedback I get from the chart regarding my weight.

This is what happened after my summer vacation:

Aug. 31:   137.5lb
Sept. 30:   144lb
Oct. 31:    142lb
Nov. 30:   148.5lb

Low: 136.25 (Aug. 21)
High: 155.25 (Feb. 22)

So I packed on 15-20lb in the last 6 months.  And the mental bullshit I was telling myself!  "It's only 5lb".  Then it was 10, and I got discouraged, and my cousin was visiting, etc etc.  So I crossed the 140lb barrier, then the 150lb barrier I said I'd never cross again!

Another week with no shrinkage

I'm still hovering in the 153 range after getting back from Brugge, which is a few pounds more than when I left.  I don't feel bigger than before the trip, so the extra lbs must be all the muscle I put on pounding the pavement.  I'm going to have to get more committed to watching what I eat.  I am going to do a PP day today, and I will try to increase my walking.  Long walks are still out due to a minor issue which makes lots of walking uncomfortable, but I'm hoping that problem will be resolved with bloatless days.  I had a beer yesterday, convinced that I wouldn't bloat as it was barley & not wheat, but I was puffy before going to bed.  So, protein & veggies and no grains for now so I can start walking more again.  I do think that walking at lunch (or at least running errands) should be OK, as walking is more uncomfortable (sorry, don't want to post details about it!) later in the day.
