Total lost: 11.00lb (4.99kg, 0.79st)
Total lost since 3/2011: 21.50lb (9.75kg, 1.54st)
Water intake: 95 oz & 45 oz lemonade (140oz = 4.14l) & 1 mug of herbal tea
Another PP day today. I didn't get enough sleep. Still under 137, nothing to be concerned about! I did some research on losing abdominal fat, and all the sources said that subcutaneous abdominal fat is the last to go. Visceral fat, that hidden fat inside, goes first, which is of course good, as it's more dangerous than the fat that you see on the outside. So you may notice that you are slimming down and your abdomen is getting smaller, yet you still have that fat pad on top of your abs. That's OK. You won't lose that until you are really getting into slender, lean territory. Once you start seeing 2-packs, 4-packs and 6 or even 8-packs, you've gotten rid of the internal visceral fat. I'm wondering again about what my goal should be. Could I be going even lower than 130? Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteHow tall are you? I'm 117 pounds as of today and still have that layer of fat on my stomach - grrrrr. I wonder if having kids means I'll never lose it or perhaps I need to do weight lifting to build my muscles more to lose the weight??? Even at 117 I'm not skinny skinny. Def still layers of fat.
ReplyDeleteHow tall are you? I am 5'6.5'' and weigh 155 lbs... you ladies and your 110s, making me all self concious over here :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about belly fat! I'll keep that in consideration.
I'll reply to both of you: I am 5'6.75". When I was 18-24yrs old, I weighed 124-126lb at not too skinny just right (121lb at 20yrs I was skinny and bony). At 24, I was 126lb swimming 5x a week, so I wasn't without muscle either.
ReplyDeleteDD: I have wondered about your 155lb, that seems high to me, even though you look great. I think I mentioned in another post that I looked at some figure models & contestants, and the range was 5'7": 120-135lb, 5'6": 105-130. Now that you are working out, maybe there is some visceral fat in there that needs to go before you get more intense visible results.
ZG: You should build muscles anyway, you'll find that the scale won't move that much, but you'll look much more toned, you'll get smaller and your fat will decrease. There are plenty of athletic women who've had kids, and they don't look flabby just because they're moms. BTW, I am 49, so I am dealing with menopause as well.
Yes I must build muscle. When I was 18-24yrs I was around 103 (I'm very petite and small boned) and was just right. In fact I never had to worry about weight, I just stayed the same whatever I did or ate... I don't think 103 would be a sensible weight for a grown woman with kids so I'm aiming for around 110-114 (not far to go). I've just had an operation that doesn't allow me to lift for 6 weeks so after that I'm excited to get back into lifting weights. I've done it lots in the past and absolutely LOVED it. I also want to try running for fun and exercise though rather than losing weight.
DeleteWhat have you decided your goal will be weight wise?
ZG
I'm still undecided. I was originally going for 135lb, which was my normal in my late 20's-early 30s, but I still have room to shrink, and I'm only 3lb away from that. Since I was 124-126lb at 18-24yrs, I'm thinking that I had less visceral fat then. It could be that the 135lb included more visceral fat gained over those intervening years. Right now I'm going for 130-133. As I reach each whole number starting with 133, I'm going to consider whether I should stop there. When I add in grains etc, I'll immediately put on 2lb, so I'm going to err on the low side. BTW, I don't know what having kids and being grown has to do with it. Would your goal be different at your age if you didn't have kids? What makes 110-114 better for you? I might not be able to get to 126 because think I'll end up having more muscle now than I did at 24yrs.
